Ubud Bali Information

Ubud is located an hour drive from the southern part of Bali and is part of Gianyar Regency. It is  a remarkable village in the central part of the island of Bali and is surrounded by form of Bali’s cultural heart land, home to a huge proliferation of temples, museum and art galleries. Ubud is the place for the Balinese dances staged nightly and a wealth of arts,  crafts studios providing the most absorbing shopping on the Island. It is a perfect place to learn and explore the Balinese traditional activities such as cooking, carvings, paintings, dancing and making offerings.

Ubud has been well-known since 1930 when a Dutch painter Walter Spies and a Nederland painter Rudolf Bonnet visited this place. Then they settled in Ubud for a long time and were helped by Cokorda Gede Agung Sukawati of Agung Ubud. Now we can see this painting in Museum Puri Lukisan. Later on Ubud become the home of famous and talented artists.

Variety of art works are on display for sale along Jalan Monkey Forest, Bisma, Pengosekan and Sanggingan. It is your time to bargain for a good quality souvenirs. Good fashion stores are mostly located on Jalan Bisma and around the traditional market.

When the sun goes to the horizon, Ubud becomes a romantic place for every travelers. The traditional Balinese music creates a truly village atmosphere. It is time to find your fine dining before or after watching the Balinese dance performances.
