Balinese Galungan Ceremony

Galungan Day is one of Balinese religious ceremonies celebrated in every 210 days. It literally means the victory of the good spirit upon evil spirit. During this special day, Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa of the Balinese Gods visit the earth.
Galungan is the beginning of the most important religious ceremonies celebrated by Balinese Hindu followers. It is also believed that the deified ancestors of the family descend to their former homes.

The Galungan Day falls on Wednesday. All Hindu Balinese prepare their offerings a day before Galungan Day which is called Penampahan Day or a preparation day for related decoration. Other offerings are prepared by every Balinese women far a head of the ceremony.
There are three important days of Galungan Celebration:
Penampahan or Preparation Day :
All men prepare special foods including chicken and pigs for the offerings. Special temple decoration such as Penjor shall be installed on every house main entry gate and temples.

Galungan Day
All Balinese Hindu followers pray together in their temples.

Manis Galungan
A special day for holiday, visiting friends, relatives and family.
