Canggu Bali
(by: Administrator - on Jul 29, 2009 for city Bali)

Canggu is largely a traditional area located on the west coast of Bali located around an hours drive north of the international airport. Canggu has become a popular place largely due to the consistent surf break which pulls surfers away from the more southern areas of Bali. Due to this there have been a number of traditional Balinese restaurants and beach cafes that have provided the surfers with their breakfasts and refreshments although now there are modern expatriate and stylish cafes and bars opening in the area. As well as this there has been a growth in private villa set ups and boutique villa arrangements located within the beautiful paddy fields around the Canggu area. These private villas are all of an extremely high level often offering over 5 separate luxury bathrooms each with private en suites and the main areas will include luxury living areas fully kitchens with a chief preparing and shopping for all of your food and also games rooms and a great garden area often with a very large private pool. The boutique villa arrangements in Canggu usually offer around 7 separate villas each with private access, private gardens usually with private swimming pools and then a scaled down version of the villas mentioned above although they are usually of the same level of luxury.

Canggu is located away from all of the main tourism facilities although there is more and more developing in the area all of the time. Realistically you will need to take the 20 minute trip into Kerobokan or the further 10 minute trip into the vibrant Seminyak if you are looking for a change in dinning or for going out. This is for many the very attraction of Canggu, living in total luxury in a tropical paradise where traditional Balinese views and villages surrounding the area where there are no crowds of tourists and instead a small expatriate community enjoying this area whilst still being relatively close to Kerobokan and Seminyak for enjoying their facilities.

The beach in the Canggu area is very different to that of the Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. The sand is off-white and there are outcrops of rock and smooth reef areas which give features to the beach and rather than there being lots of tourist facilities on the beach, instead you will find local people enjoying the beach or fishing and backdrops which appear unchanged such as rice paddies and tropical trees making for a more tranquil and beautiful environment. You will find hardly any other tourists on the beaches apart from on what is known as echo beach which is developing quickly and the beaches further south from here where there are hotels and cafes. This means just north of Echo beach is perfect for a romantic walk alone in the tropical paradise of Bali. Canggu is perfect for couples and families you are hoping to enjoy the area and especially those who want luxury and a surf spot.
