Labuan Bajo is the main gate to west of Flores from Bali and is home base to explore Komodo National Park. This small town has been growing fast as a capital regency of West Manggarai. The tourism industry has become one of economical resource for local people. There are some local Indonesia chain hotels in Bali such as Bintang Flores Hotel and Jayakarta Komodo Suites. There are some other small boutique accommodation and cheap hotels in Labuan Bajo. The numbers of hotels and accommodation in Labuan Bajo increase every year to accommodate the increase number of travelers visiting west Flores.

Komodo National Park is one of the most popular tourist destination in Indonesia and has been nominated as one of the 7 Nature Wonders. One tourism spot that is often visited by tourist is the Komodo National Park, the home of the giant lizard Komodo dragon on Rinca Island. There is still few accommodations in this place due to the lack of tourists come to this park. To visit the Komodo National Park, all travelers shall take a flight from Denpasar, Bali or by bus and connecting by ferry from the eastern part of Bali through Lombok and Sumbawa Island. There are three daily regular flights from Denpasar, Bali to Labuan Bajo and return.
