Amed is located in the very north of Bali and is sometime considered east Bali. Amed is a very relaxed and sleepy traditional area where you will find a very mellow atmosphere which is very close to the classic tropical seclusion that many people desire from their holiday. This beautiful beach area is located around a 4 hour's drive from the international airport where you will find a tropical sanctuary away from all of the cities and the bulk of the tourists in the south of the island. White and black sand beaches surround the area along the coast with coconut groves and tropical woodlands that lead into the rice paddies and the mountains and volcanoes which dominate the views when looking inland. Due to this there is a small diving scene in the Amed and a number of dive tours come through the area to see this and there are great facilities for divers and snorkelers.
