The capital province is Denpasar which lies on the southern part of the island. The Hinduism came over Bali in the 7th century and was spread by the Hindus priest who lead from Java. The Dutch was first landed on this small island in 1597 and began to influence the island. Bali was particularly hard hit during the nationwide purge of Communists in 1965.More than 40,000 people were killed, and entire villages were destroyed. The island was part of a massive transmigration project in the late 1970s to relieve overcrowding. Bali is popular to most of the westerners and is one of the famous tourist destination.
Bali tourism industry has been established since 1930. Sanur is the pioneer of tourist resort in Bali. Nowadays the tourism sector has become as the major local income. Hotels, restaurants, attractions and entertainment are available in almost every tourist resort in Bali. Holidaying in Bali will be never enough if you have not explore the island.
